On South Beach, there is an old WWII Pillbox. We decided we had better visit while we were here. With our friends
Nedhi and Gail (Doc's family, here for a week) we went in search of the famous Pillbox. We weren't really sure what we were looking for and if we would know it when we saw it.

Louis and
Nedhi on the way out to the beach.

Hey! That must be it?!

The Pillbox was used to protect the soldiers on the beach. They could prop their guns in the little windows and take care of any enemies who might be coming from the ocean!

Louis inside the pillbox. There are, apparently, different types of pillboxes. We saw an in-ground one on Eastern. This one is just sitting on the beach.

A little test for you . . .
What is this a picture of? (It has nothing to do with the pillbox)
Hi Pam,
ReplyDeleteWe're going to need some hints here... help us out!
- this is a close up pix of some real object or thing?
- is it alive or dead?
- how large is it?
- is the blue color from daylight shining through?
my first guess is that its a piece of rusty metal?
-ttk
Hi Pam,
