Louis and I jumped in off the Cargo Pier on
Monday. We hadn't been
there for awhile. We were feeling very spoiled by getting to
snorkel off the reef. But, we thought we'd hit our old stomping ground again. . .
(this picture is actually upside down. I can't change it, sorry)
We had a great time! It is so different and the pictures aren't quite as vibrant as they are out on the reef. But, we had to agree this was one of our favorite snorkels.
We saw several turtles. This was a young one.

This a big turtle that swam right up to Louis. It was amazing - Louis was so excited. This is the only picture I got as my battery died right after this. So, just imagine our little Louis hanging out with a turtle almost as long as he is. Wow!

I do enjoy the different landscapes the pier provides.

It looks like the fish are in jail!

A large school of BIG
Ulua came and visited us as well. We also saw a Monk Seal chasing an
Ulua.

On a different note - this is the Pit of Despair. It happens in the corner of the harbor. It's nasty! Sometimes, the volunteers clean it up. It's dead birds and marine debris that wash into the corners. Sometimes, you can find a glass ball in the Pit. I don't think I've mentioned that there are
a lot of dead birds. With 500,000 birds hatching, you're bound to get some dead.
A lot of dead ones. The survival rate is pretty high, but still - dead birds all over the place. The ones in town get picked up every day, though.
